Abstract
A method of reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) in a flowing combustion exhaust gas to N2, which method comprising oxidising nitrogen monoxide to nitrogen dioxide on a transition metal/elite catalyst at catalyst bed temperatures below 50° C. and reducing NOx with the catalyst using an hydrocarbon (HC) reductant at catalyst bed temperatures below 150° C.

A method of reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) in a flowing combustion exhaust gas to N2, which method comprising oxidising nitrogen monoxide (NO) to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) on a transition metal/elite catalyst at catalyst bed temperatures below 50° C. and reducing NOx with the catalyst using a hydrocarbon (HC) reductant at catalyst bed temperatures below 150° C.
An exhaust system for treating NOx in a combustion exhaust gas flowing in the system, which system comprising a transition metal/elite catalyst for oxidising NO to NO2 at catalyst bed temperatures below 50° C. and means, when in use, for contacting the catalyst with sufficient HC reductant to reduce NOx to N2 at catalyst bed temperatures of below 150° C.
