Abstract
A grid system for supporting a suspended ceiling and ceiling mounted equipment includes a plurality of grid elements which are interconnected in a orthogonal grid pattern. The grid elements have a wire raceway located at their upper end which is accessible from above the grid element. Flanges located at lower portions of the grid elements engage the equipment supported by the grid system.

A grid system for supporting a suspended ceiling and ceiling-mounted equipment comprising:
- (a) a plurality of grid elements interconnected in an orthogonal grid pattern;
- (b) said grid elements having support flanges at a lower portion thereof;
- (c) each said grid element having an upper wire cavity at an upper portion thereof;
- wherein
- (d) said upper cavity has side-by-side sidewalls and a bottom wall and is accessible from above said grid system.

- (a) A plurality of grid elements interconnected in an orthogonal grid pattern;
- (b) said grid elements having a supporting flange at a lower portion thereof;
- (c) said grid elements having an upper cavity at an upper portion thereof;
- (d) said upper cavity having side-by-side sidewalls and a bottom wall, and is accessible from above;
- (e) said grid elements having a lower cavity at said lower portion thereof;
- (f) said lower cavity having side-by-side sidewalls and is accessible from below said ceiling;
- wherein
- (g) said upper and lower cavities are interconnected through a web.
