Fenestration Products Comprising Pultrusion Reinforced Vinyl Polymer Foam

A fenestration product, comprising:

• an elongated polyvinyl chloride foam body;
• a fiberglass reinforced polymer pultrusion support comprising an L-shaped cross section and engaging the foam body;
• and
• an adhesive between the support and the body, wherein the adhesive comprises an acrylic adhesive, a urethane adhesive, an epoxy adhesive, or combinations thereof;
• wherein a first surface extending the length of the body is covered by the support;
• wherein a second surface extending the length of the body is exposed to accommodate traditional woodworking processes;
• and
• wherein the L-shaped cross section comprises two lips so that the support may only attach to the body in the axial direction.

A fenestration product, comprising:

• an elongated vinyl polymer foam body having a length, a first surface extending the length of the foam body, and a second surface extending the length of the foam body;
• an elongated fiber reinforced polymer pultrusion support engaging the foam body and substantially entirely covering the first surface;
• and
• an adhesive between the support and the foam body, wherein the adhesive comprises an acrylic adhesive, an epoxy adhesive, a urethane adhesive, or combinations thereof,
• wherein at least a portion of the second surface is exposed.
