Abstract
A blind frame for a window or door, the blind frame including a channel defined by the blind frame, the channel extending at least partially around the periphery of the blind frame and defining a space between the frame and an adjacent wall, the space being adapted and configured to receive an amount of concrete so as to affix the frame to the wall. The blind frame may include an accessory compartment including a housing defining an external surface adapted and configured to support an amount of concrete and embed said housing in said wall opening.
Claims21
A blind frame for a window or door, the blind frame comprising:
- a channel defined by the blind frame, said channel extending at least partially around the periphery of the blind frame and defining a space between the frame and an adjacent wall, said space being adapted and configured to receive an amount of concrete so as to affix the frame to the wall.
A blind frame for a window or door, the frame comprising:
- a mounting portion constructed and operative to be mounted in a pre-cast wall;
- and
- a complementary portion adapted and configured for sealing engagement with said mounting portion after said mounting portion has been mounted in said pre-cast wall.
A method for forming a blind frame for a window or door, the method comprising:
- providing a profile including a channel defining a space adapted and configured to receive an amount of concrete,
- cutting said profile into at least one frame segment;
- and
- coupling said at least one frame segment into a frame.
A method for forming a blind frame for a window or door, the method comprising:
- forming a mounting portion of a blind frame constructed and operative to be mounted in a pre-cast wall;
- and
- forming a complementary interior portion adapted and configured for sealing engagement with said mounting portion after said mounting portion has been mounted in said pre-cast wall.
A method for mounting a blind frame in a wall, the method comprising:
- building a wall segment;
- disposing a blind frame on the wall segment, the blind frame having a channel extending substantially around the periphery of the frame, said channel defining a space between the blind frame and the wall;
- building the wall up the sides of the frame;
- and
- casting concrete into the space between the frame and the wall.
A method for mounting a blind frame in a wall, the method comprising:
- building a prefabricated wall segment;
- building a mold on an outside surface of said wall and frame;
- mounting a first portion of a blind frame in said wall segment, contacting said mold;
- building a mold on an inside surface of said wall and contacting said frame;
- casting concrete between said molds and around said first portion;
- removing said molds;
- and
- sealingly affixing a complementary portion of said blind frame to said mounting portion.
An accessory compartment for storing a window accessory, the compartment comprising:
- a housing adapted and configured to be mounted in a wall aperture;
- said housing defining an external surface adapted and configured to support an amount of concrete to embed said housing in said wall aperture.
A prefabricated wall comprising:
- a window opening;
- a mold defining part of a blind frame affixed to the wall about said window opening;
- a pre-cast concrete blind frame in said window opening.
A method for forming a prefabricated wall comprising:
- forming a prefabricated wall having a window opening;
- affixing a first mold portion defining part of a blind frame to the wall adjacent said window opening;
- removably affixing a second mold portion to said first mold portion;
- casting concrete around said accessory compartment in said first and second mold portions;
- and
- removing said removable mold portion.
