Compounds

A method of modulating PKB activity in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to said subject a compound of the formula:

• wherein R1 is C1-5 alkoxy, OCOC1-3Alkyl, O(CH2)2O(CH2)2O(CH2)2OMe, O(CH2)2O(CH2)2O(CH2)2OH or OH;
• R2 is H, (CH2)nOH, OCH3, Hal or
• R3 is H or (CH2)nOH;
• and
• R4 is C1-6 alkyl, optionally substituted by one or more of Hal, OH, COCH3, NH2, NHCH3, NHMe, NMe2, OCOCH3, CO2H or esters or amides thereof, where n is 1-5;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

A pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a compound of the formula:

• wherein R1 is C1-5 alkoxy, OCOC1-3Alkyl, O(CH2)2O(CH2)2O(CH2)2OMe, O(CH2)2O(CH2)2O(CH2)2OH or OH;
• R2 is H, (CH2)nOH, OCH3, Hal or
• R3 is H or (CH2)nOH;
• and
• R4 is C1-6 alkyl, optionally substituted by one or more of Hal, OH, COCH3, NH2, NHCH3, NHMe, NMe2, OCOCH3, CO2H or esters or amides thereof where n is 1-5;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

A compound of the formula:

• wherein R5 is C1-5 alkoxy or OH;
• R6 is C1-5 alkyl, optionally substituted by Hal, NHCH3, CO2H or esters or amides thereof, and
• R7 and R8 are independently (CH2)qOH where q is 2-5;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
