Abstract
Derivatives of seleno-alpha amino acids, particularly selenomethionine as enhanced bioavailable sources of selenium in animal diets.
Claims5
A dietary supplement premix, containing irreversible derivatives of seleno amino acids, comprising:
- adding to an animal feed premix carrier an amount sufficient of a compound selected from the group consisting of N-Succinyl L-Selenomethionine or salts thereof, N-Carbamoyl L-Selenomethionine or salts thereof, L-Selenomethionine Hydantoin and salts thereof to provide a selenium level of from about 0.05 ppm to about 2.0 ppm.
A dietary supplement premix containing irreversible derivatives of the seleno alpha amino acid Selenomethionine, wherein the derivatives are C1 to C3 esters added to an animal feed premix in an amount sufficient to provide selenium levels at from about 0.05 ppm to about 2.0 ppm.
A method of supplementing the diet of animals with selenium comprising adding to their animal feed an amount sufficient of compounds selected from the group consisting of N-Succinyl L-Selenomethionine or salts thereof, N-Carbamoyl Selenomethionine or salts thereof, L-Selenomethionine Hydantoin and salts thereof, and seleno alpha amino acid L-Selenomethionine C1 to C3 esters to provide selenium levels of from about 0.05 ppm to about 2.0 ppm.
