Abstract
Methods using plants from the Irvingiaceae plant genus to reduce weight in a mammal and provide numerous other health related benefits. In one embodiment, a method for reducing weight is provided. The method includes administering a composition containing an effective amount of ground up seeds of Irvingia gabonensis to a mammal to reduce weight in the mammal.

A method for reducing weight in a mammal, the method comprising:
- administering a composition containing an effective amount of ground-up seeds of Irvingia gabonensis to a mammal to reduce weight in the mammal.
A method for reducing weight in a mammal comprising:
- administering a composition containing an effective amount of a protein fraction obtained from ground-up seeds of Irvingia gabonensis to a mammal to reduce weight in the mammal.
A method for reducing weight in a mammal comprising:
- administering a therapeutically effective amount of ethanol extract of delipidated seeds of Irvingia gabonensis to a mammal in need thereof;
- wherein the ethanol extract of the delipidated seeds of Irvingia gabonensis is administered in an effective amount effective to reduce weight in the mammal.
