Abstract
The invention provides methods of treating autoimmune diseases by administration of a complete therapeutically effective amount of a CD20 specific antagonist as a single intravenous infusion. Retreatment may follow by the administration of a complete therapeutically effective amount of the CD20 specific antagonist by a single intravenous infusion, 4 to 6 months after the first administration. The CD20 specific antagonist preferably is a CD20 specific antibody, and the autoimmune disease preferably is rheumatoid arthritis.

A method of depleting B cells in a human patient having an autoimmune disease comprising administering to the patient a complete therapeutically effective amount of a CD20 specific antagonist by one intravenous (i.v.) infusion.
A method for the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in a human patient comprising administering to the patient from 400 mg to 1500 mg of a CD20 specific antibody as a single intravenous (i.v.) infusion.
A method for the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in a human patient comprising administering from 400 mg to 1500 mg of 2H7 Variant A comprising a full length L chain of SEQ ID NO:
- 6 and a full length H chain of SEQ ID NO:
- 7, or a fragment thereof to said human patient.
An article of manufacture comprising:
- (a) a container containing a CD20 specific antagonist;
- and (b) a package insert with instructions for treating an autoimmune disease in a human subject, wherein the instructions indicate that the subject receives the complete therapeutically effective amount of the CD20 specific antagonist as single intravenous infusion.
An article of manufacture comprising:
- (a) a container comprising a CD20 specific antibody;
- and (b) a package insert with instructions for treating rheumatoid arthritis in a human subject, wherein the instructions indicate that the subject receives a complete therapeutically effective amount between 400 mg and 1500 mg of a CD20 specific antibody as single intravenous infusion.
A pharmaceutical formulation comprising a complete effective amount of a CD20 specific antibody in a form suitable for one-time intravenous administration.
