Abstract
The invention features a method for treating or preventing ischemia in a mammal by administering unrestricted somatic stem cells (USSCs) to the mammal.

A method for treating or preventing ischemia in a mammal having tissue in which ischemia, or the risk of ischemia, is associated with compromised blood flow to said tissue, said method comprising the step of administering to said mammal an ischemia-treating or ischemia-preventing number of unrestricted somatic stem cells (USSCs).
