Perpendicular magnetic recording head and method for manufacturing the same

A method for manufacturing a perpendicular magnetic recording head, the method comprising:

• forming a lower magnetic pole;
• forming a first conductive layer on the lower magnetic pole, the first conductive layer having a plurality of layer portions extending in the direction of a track width;
• forming a magnetic yoke on a central region of the first conductive layer, and using the same material as that of the magnetic yoke to form a first layer of a connection tab in both outer side regions of the central region of the first conductive layer, a front edge portion of the magnetic yoke being located separately from an air bearing surface, a rear edge portion of the magnetic yoke being magnetically connected with a back yoke;
• forming a main magnetic pole on the magnetic yoke;
• forming a magnetic shield on a trailing side and both sides of the main magnetic pole, and using the same material as that of the magnetic shield to form a second layer of the connection tab;
• forming a nonmagnetic insulating layer on the main magnetic pole and the magnetic yoke;
• forming a recessed portion in the nonmagnetic insulating layer and removing a part of the second layer of the connection tab;
• forming a second conductive layer having a plurality of layer portions extending in the direction of a track width, and filling a space, in which the part of the second layer of the connection tab is removed, with the same material as that of the second conductive layer during the formation of the second conductive layer;
• and
• forming an upper magnetic pole above the second conductive layer via an insulating layer.
