Abstract
A cart transportable mobile medical emergency response facility includes a plurality of hand carried carts with cargo canisters with interchangeable components for establishing a decentralized mobile medical treatment facility at a disaster or other emergency area with a lack of usable hospital facilities. The rapidly deployable and accessible collection of carts and medical equipment delivers point-of-need critical care in the absence of conventional time consuming and complex assembly of medical response facilities
Claims39
A mobile medical critical care point of need field installation unit comprising:
- at least one assembly of a plurality of rapid movement, rapid set up readily transportable modules capable of being hand carried to a remote location on rough terrain, each said transportable module including at least one set of interchangeable field assembleable structural components comprising at least one bin releasably engageable with and removably attached to a modular load support frame capable of being assembled and disassembled, said frame having a pair of load supporting rails, each pair of rails having at least one releasable rail engaging clamp, each said clamp engageable along user-selected positions along a substantial portion of each said load supporting rail with at least one of at least a pair of struts, said struts accommodating wheel supporting axles and wheels or, upon removal of said struts and wheels, with at least a pair of table support stanchions, said structural components further having at least one hand-carried handle and at least one support for a medical accessory, said set of interchangeable field assembleable structural components forming collapsible wheeled stretcher carriers and multipurpose utility tables for treatment and movement of patients;
- said at least one assembly of transportable modules and field assembleable structural components comprising a plurality of up to ten beds designed for rapid set up;
- said at least one assembly including equipment needed to staff an operating room, ICU and triage/treatment and holding facility;
- said at least one assembly being housed within said plurality of rapid movement, rapid set-up, transportable modules of up to about 50 cubic feet each and each transportable modules weighing no more than 1200 pounds and having means for allowing a single person to deploy at least one of said rapid movement, rapid set up transportable modules of said assembly;
- and,
- said transportable modules, bins, rails and field assemblable structural components providing flexibility to form payloads to address variable deployment needs as the needs evolve in said remote location.
A method of responding to a disaster comprising the steps of:
- transporting to a scene of said disaster a number of mobile medical critical care point of need field installation units, each of said mobile medical critical care point of need field installation units comprising an assembly of rapid movement, rapid set up collapsible wheeled stretcher carriers and multipurpose utility tables for treatment and movement of patients, a plurality of transportable modules accommodating up to ten beds designed for rapid set up, sufficient equipment needed to staff an operating room, ICU and triage/treatment and holding facility, and being housed within said transportable modules, each transportable module containing up to 50 cubic feet storage space and weighing no more than 1200 pounds, and having means for allowing a single person to deploy each said transportable module;
- and,
- deploying said mobile medical critical care point of need field installation units over an area adjacent said disaster area sufficiently dispersed to limit exposure of said mobile medical critical care point of need field installation units to collateral damage.
A mobile medical critical care point of need field installation unit comprising:
- at least one assembly of a plurality of rapid movement, rapid set up readily transportable modules capable of being hand carried to a remote location on rough terrain, each said transportable module including at least one set of interchangeable field assembleable structural components comprising at least one bin releasably engageable with and removably attached to a modular load support frame capable of being assembled and disassembled, said frame having a pair of load supporting rails, each pair of rails having at least one releasable rail engaging clamp, each said clamp engageable along user-selected positions of a substantial portion of each said load supporting rail with at least one of at least a pair of struts, said struts accommodating wheel supporting axles and wheels or upon removal of said struts and wheels, with at least a pair of table support stanchions, said structural components further having at least one hand-carried handle and at least one support for a medical accessory, said set of interchangeable field assembleable structural components forming collapsible wheeled stretcher carriers and multipurpose utility tables for treatment and movement of patients;
- said at least one assembly of transportable modules and field assembleable structural components comprising a plurality of beds designed for rapid set up;
- said at least one assembly including equipment needed to staff an operating room, ICU and triage/treatment and holding facility;
- said at least one assembly being housed within said plurality of rapid movement, rapid set-up, transportable modules having means for allowing a single person to deploy at least one of said rapid movement, rapid set up transportable modules of said assembly;
- and,
- said transportable modules, bins, rails and field assemblable structural components providing flexibility to form payloads to address variable deployment needs as the needs evolve in said remote location.
