Abstract
A photovoltaic cell can include a heterojunction between semiconductor layers.
Claims32
A photovoltaic device comprising:
- a transparent conductive layer on a substrate;
- a first semiconductor layer including a III-V compound semiconductor, the first semiconductor layer positioned over the transparent conductive layer;
- and
- a second semiconductor layer including a II-VI compound semiconductor, the second semiconductor layer positioned between a first semiconductor layer and a back metal contact.

A method of manufacturing a photovoltaic device comprising:
- depositing a first semiconductor layer on a substrate, the first semiconductor layer including a III-V compound semiconductor;
- and
- depositing a second semiconductor layer between the first semiconductor layer and a back metal contact, the second semiconductor layer including a II-VI compound semiconductor.
A system for generating electrical energy comprising:
- a multilayered photovoltaic cell including
- a transparent conductive layer on a substrate,
- a first semiconductor layer including a III-V compound semiconductor, the first semiconductor layer positioned over the transparent conductive layer,
- a second semiconductor layer including a II-VI compound semiconductor, the second semiconductor layer positioned between a first semiconductor layer and a back metal contact,
- and
- a first electrical connection connected to a transparent conductive layer;
- and
- a second electrical connection connected to a back metal electrode adjacent to a second semiconductor layer.
