Abstract
A fishing lure assembly is disclosed which comprises a blade free to oscillate, yaw and produce a trailing wake as the fishing lure assembly is displaced through water. A weight is affixed to the fishing lure assembly, but inferiorly disposed such that the blade is free to oscillate and have a yaw divergence which is substantially unaffected by inertia of the weight. The fishing lure may be variably constructed to include one or more hooks and soft bait and hard bait bodies which are disposed to follow behind in the trailing wake. In one embodiment, a float is added to the lure assembly. In another embodiment, a combination of a frame and blade is disclosed, the blade being flexible and resilient and affixed to the frame such that the blade is securably affixed but replaceable in a fishing environment.
Claims14
A fishing gear assembly comprising:
- a sturdy frame comprising a proximal site whereat a fishing line is affixed to define a first horizontal plane;
- an associated blade medially affixed to the sturdy frame, distal from the proximal site, said blade being disposed for side-to-side oscillation and a resultant yaw and yaw divergence when said frame is affixed to a fishing line and retrieved through water to produce a trailing wake;
- a fishing lure part distally disposed relative to said blade to be affected by yaw and yaw divergence of the blade, said lure part being securely affixed to said sturdy frame and therefore comprising a longitudinal axis of rotation when displaced through water, a most inferior portion of said lure part defining a second horizontal;
- and
- a weight which acts as a stabilizing fulcrum and does not substantially affect sideways oscillatory action and yaw of the wake producing blade and fishing lure part, the uppermost portion of the weight defining a third horizontal plane which is inferiorly disposed relative to both first and second horizontal planes.
A fishing lure assembly which is stable about a vertical plane when disposed in water, said assembly comprising:
- a sturdy frame having superior and inferior extensions and comprising an attachment site interposed there between whereat a blade is affixed to the frame;
- the frame further comprising a fishing line connection site inferiorly disposed relative to the superior extension, said connection site defining a first horizontal plane;
- the blade, comprising a superior edge and an inferior edge, securely affixed to the frame at the attachment site, but left free thereat to oscillate from side-to-side;
- a fishing lure part distally disposed relative to said blade to be affected by yaw and yaw divergence of the blade, said lure part being securely affixed to said sturdy frame and therefore comprising a longitudinal axis of rotation when displaced through water;
- and
- a weight securely affixed the frame at a site where the uppermost portion of the weight defines a third horizontal plane which is inferiorly disposed relative to the first horizontal plane and the longitudinal axis of rotation such that oscillating side-to-side frequency and associated yaw convergence of the blade and fishing lure part is not substantially affected by the weight;
- and
- a float subassembly affixed to the superior extension of the frame at a site where, when the assembly is in water, at least a portion of the float subassembly is disposed above the superior edge of the blade such that side-to-side oscillation and associated yaw of the blade is not substantially affected by the float subassembly, the float subassembly being provided to overcome a predetermined amount of ballast of the weight.
A combination comprising a side to side oscillating blade and associated fishing lure frame combination wherein:
- said blade comprises a flexible and resilient material formed in the shape of a side-to-side oscillating fishing blade and comprising two through holes sized and shaped for passing portions of the frame therethrough;
- and
- said frame comprises an elongated superiorly disposed mast and an angulated portion inferiorly disposed to said mast;
- said angulated portion being shaped to permit said blade to be flexed such that one of the holes passes about the angulated portion to thereby affix the blade to the frame, the frame further comprising a connecting structure disposed inferiorly to the angulated portion whereby associated weight and lure parts are affixed to the combination.
