Abstract
A method of joining the interfacing ends of cables, one to another, wherein each comprises a plurality of conductor strands, comprising (i) providing each of the ends with an enlarged terminal portion of greater diameter than the cable adjacent the end, (ii) inserting the ends into a connecting tube having an outer layer of an explosive charge, and (iii) detonating the explosive layer so as to compress the connecting tube around the conductor strands. The method offers a cheaper, faster and simpler method of joining a bundle of wires and the like than prior art methods.

A joined wire fastener combination comprising:
- an outer sleeve, the outer sleeve further comprising a pre-mounted implosive charge layer;
- and
- a pair of enlargement members each configured to be individually inserted into two adjacent, respective ends of two stranded conductors, the pair of enlargement members each having an outer diameter that is less than an outer diameter of at least one of the two adjacent, respective ends of the two stranded conductors,
- wherein the pair of enlargement members are individually inserted into the two adjacent, respective ends of the two stranded conductors without the removal or partial removal of any strands of the two stranded conductors.
