Abstract
An information carrier system for a food article slicing machine. The system is for reading data from removable parts of the slicing machine. The system has a data carrier located on one or more removable parts for storing data and a head for reading data from the data carrier or for writing data to the data carrier guides. A shear support is one of the removable parts.

A food article slicing machine, comprising:
- a slicing station comprising a knife blade and a knife blade drive driving the blade along a cutting path in a cutting plane;
- a food article feed apparatus supporting one or more food articles for movement along food article paths intersecting the cutting path;
- and
- an information carrier system for reading data from removable parts of said slicing machine.

- a food article feed apparatus supporting at least one food article for movement along a food article path intersecting the cutting path;
