Abstract
A scrap food slice disposal mechanism for a food article slicing machine. The disposal mechanism has a jump conveyor with a disposal position for discharging scrap slices. The disposal mechanism has a disposal path where the jump conveyor operates in the reverse direction and slices are directed to a scrap conveyor for disposal or recycling.
Claims15
A food article slicing machine, comprising:
- a slicing station comprising a knife blade and a knife blade drive driving the blade along a cutting path in a cutting plane;
- a food article feed apparatus supporting one or more food articles for movement along food article paths intersecting the cutting path;
- and
- a jump conveyor for accumulating slices from said slicing station;
- said jump conveyor having a normal position and a disposal position;
- said disposal position for discharging scrap slices.

A food article slicing machine, comprising:
- a slicing station comprising a knife blade and a knife blade drive driving the blade along a cutting path in a cutting plane;
- a food article feed apparatus supporting one or more food articles for movement along food article paths intersecting the cutting path;
- and,
- a jump conveyor for accumulating slices from said slicing station;
- said jump conveyor having disposal path for diverting scrap slices from said jump conveyor to a scrap conveyor.
2 more elements
A scrap disposal device for a food article slicing machine comprising:
- a jump conveyor for accumulating slices from a slicing station;
- said jump conveyor having a normal position and a disposal position;
- said disposal position for discharging scrap slices.
A method of discharging scrap slices from a food article slicing machine, comprising the steps of:
- (a) accumulating initial scrap slices from a new food article on said jump conveyor by initial slicing;
- and
- (b) diverting said initial scrap slices from said jump conveyor to a scrap accumulator.
