Shutter Slat End Retention System

An end retention system for use in a slat of a rolling shutter, the system comprising:

• a fastener comprising a threaded shaft for insertion into the slat, a smooth shaft and a head;
• a washer disposed around the smooth shaft, having a first diameter and comprising an aperture having a second diameter;
• and
• wherein the end retention system is retained by a guide comprising:
• a first retention fin;
• a second retention fin spaced a distance from the first retention fin, wherein the distance is less than the first diameter;
• and
• a channel partially bounded by the first and second retention fins the channel having a depth allowing the smooth shaft to slide axially;
• wherein a width of the head is greater than the second diameter and the head and the washer are located in the channel.

An end retention system for a rolling shutter, the system comprising:

• a slat comprising a body and a receptacle;
• a fastener comprising a head and a first shaft;
• a washer disposed around the first shaft including a first diameter and an aperture including a second diameter;
• wherein the end retention system is retained by a guide comprising:
• a first retention fin;
• a second retention fin spaced a distance from the first retention fin, wherein the distance is less than the first diameter;
• and
• a channel partially bounded by the first and second retention fins, and having a depth sufficient to allowing the fastener to slide along its axis;
• wherein the first shaft of the fastener is configured for insertion into the receptacle, a width of the head is greater than the second diameter and the head and the washer are located in the channel.
