Abstract
A method of startup for a gasification system includes assembling a fuel mixture for use by a gasifier at a fuel mixture assembly point, wherein the fuel mixture includes a quantity of particulate solid fuel and a quantity of non-ventable carrier gas. The method includes channeling the fuel mixture through a first conduit to a fuel mixture disassembly system including a non-ventable carrier gas removal apparatus, establishing a substantially steady flow of the fuel mixture within the first conduit, and redirecting the fuel mixture through a second conduit to the gasifier to facilitate gasifier startup.
Claims20
A method of startup for a gasification system including a gasifier, said method comprising:
- assembling a fuel mixture for use by the gasifier at a fuel mixture assembly point, the fuel mixture including a quantity of particulate solid fuel and a quantity of non-ventable carrier gas;
- channeling the fuel mixture through a first conduit to a fuel mixture disassembly system including a non-ventable carrier gas removal apparatus;
- establishing a substantially steady flow of the fuel mixture within the first conduit;
- and
- redirecting the fuel mixture through a second conduit to the gasifier to facilitate gasifier startup.
A gasification system comprising:
- a gasifier;
- a fuel mixture for use by said gasifier, wherein said fuel mixture comprises a quantity of particulate solid fuel and a quantity of non-ventable carrier gas;
- and
- a pressurization and conveyance section coupled in flow communication upstream from said gasifier;
- said pressurization and conveyance section comprising a fuel mixture disassembly system including a non-ventable carrier gas removal apparatus configured to strip the quantity of non-ventable carrier gas from the fuel mixture.
A fuel feed system for use in a gasification system including a gasifier, said fuel feed system configured to channel a fuel mixture to the gasifier, wherein said fuel mixture comprises a quantity of particulate solid fuel and a quantity of non-ventable carrier gas, said fuel feed system comprising a pressurization and conveyance section coupled in flow communication upstream from the gasifier, said pressurization and conveyance section comprising a fuel mixture disassembly system including a non-ventable carrier gas removal apparatus configured to strip a quantity of non-ventable carrier gas from a quantity of particulate solid fuel.
