Abstract
The present invention refers to a method for the transfer of DNA sequences or exogenous genes into animal sperm cells by means of the use of episomal vectors. The invention also relates to the use of “Sperm Mediated Gene Transfer” (SMGT) technology for the creation of genetically modified individuals.
Claims39
A method for the transfer of nucleotide sequences and/or exogenous genes into animal cells comprising the following steps in sequence:
- providing an episomal type vector or a minichromosome comprising at least one nucleotide sequence and/or gene sequence of interest which must be transferred into, and expressed in the host;
- providing vital male germ cells;
- incubating said male germ cells treated with said episomal vector so as to allow the binding of the vector with the cells and optionally its entry into the nucleus of the male germ cells.
