IPTV receiver and method of providing channel map management information

A method of providing a channel map management information for building a channel map in an Internet protocol TV (IPTV) receiver, the method comprising:

• connecting a service provider through a network;
• receiving a provision information record;
• parsing the received provision information record and reading location information of a master system information (SI) table included in the provision information record;
• receiving the master SI table record based on the read location information of the master SI table;
• and
• parsing the received master SI table record and reading channel map management information included in the master SI table record.

An Internet protocol TV (IPTV) receiver comprising:

• a network interface transmitting and receiving an Internet protocol (IP) packet through a network;
• an IP network stack confirming a destination of the received IP packet and dividing the IP packet according to protocols;
• a system information (SI) decoder parsing a provision information record included in the IP packet, reading location information of a master SI table included in the provision information record, parsing a master SI table record included in the IP packet, and reading channel map management information included in the master SI table record;
• and
• an IPTV terminal function (ITF) operation controller controlling the reception of the master SI table record based on the read location information of the master SI table.
