Therapy rules for closed loop programming of medical devices

A method of programming a medical device, the method comprising:

• receiving patient status information from a first medical device, the patient status infomation related to a patient;
• determining, by a medical device server, the need for treatment of the patient;
• and
• programming a second medical device capable of applying the treatment to the patient.

A medical device network comprising:

• a plurality of medical devices;
• a medical device server operatively connected to the plurality of medical devices, the medical device server comprising:
• a memory configured to store patient status information and command information;
• a programmable circuit operatively connected to the memory, the programmable circuit configured to execute program instructions to:
• receive patient status information from a first medical device from among the plurality of medical devices;
• determine the need for treatment of the patient;
• and
• upon affirming that treatment is needed, transmit a command to a second medical device from among the plurality of medical devices, the second medical device configured to provide the treatment.
