Abstract
The present invention relates, in general, to perioperative depression and, in particular, to methods of identifying individuals at risk of perioperative depression.
Claims4
A method of identifying a patient at increased risk of perioperative or periprocedure mortality comprising assaying DNA from said patient for a polymorphism in the apolipoprotein E (APOE) or thrombomodulin (THBD) gene,
- wherein the presence of an APOE −219 G/T polymorphism, or a THBD polymorphism that results in an alanine (A) to valine (V) substitution at amino acid position 455 of THBD, is associated with said increased risk of mortality.
A kit comprising at least one probe or primer suitable for use in detecting an APOE −219 G/T polymorphism.
A kit comprising at least one probe or primer suitable for use in detecting a polymorphism that results in an A to V substitution at amino acid position 455 of THBD.
