Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for specifically detecting Ljungan virus (LV). In particular, the present invention relates to a method of detecting LV using quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase PCR. The present invention also provides kits for performing the method of the invention.
Claims30
A method for detecting LV comprising detecting a nucleic acid sequence comprising at least 13 contiguous nucleotides of the sequence:
- CTGCRYAGGTGGCTTTCACCTCTSGACAGYGC (SEQ ID NO. 1) or the reverse complement sequence.
A method for detecting LV in a sample, comprising:
- (a) isolating RNA from the sample;
- (b) reverse transcribing the RNA to obtain a DNA sequence comprising at least 13 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO.1;
- and
- (c) performing quantitative PCR using an exonuclease probe.
