Abstract
Turbine systems and apparatuses and methods for operating a turbine. The turbine has a shaft coupled to a generator and a segment and the segment has an asymmetric shaped wall.
Claims20
A segment for a fluid driven turbine, comprising:
- a first wall to be coupled to a shaft;
- a second wall asymmetric to the first wall and the shaft;
- a third wall joined to the first and second walls;
- and
- a fourth wall joined to the first and second walls opposite the third wall;
- the first, second, third and fourth walls forming an inlet at a first end of the segment;
- and
- at least one of the first, second, third and fourth walls having an outlet formed therein at a second end of the segment.

A turbine comprising:
- a shaft;
- a segment attached to the shaft and including:
- a first wall coupled to the shaft;
- a second wall asymmetric to the first wall and the shaft;
- a third wall joined to the first and second walls;
- and
- a fourth wall joined to the first and second walls opposite the third wall;
- the first wall, the second wall, the third wall, and the fourth wall forming an inlet at a first end of the segment and having an outlet formed in at least one of the first wall, the second wall, the third wall, and the fourth wall at a second end of the segment;
- and
- a generator coupled to the shaft.
7 more elements
A segment for a fluid driven turbine, comprising:
- a channel comprising an inlet end and an outlet end, the cross-sectional area of the channel continuously reducing from the inlet end to the outlet end.
