Abstract
Provided is a photonics device. The photonics device includes: a substrate including a star coupler region and a transition region; a lower core layer formed on the substrate; and upper core patterns formed on the substrate to define a waveguide. The upper core patterns are disposed on the lower core layer at the transition region, so that the transition region has a multi-layered core structure.

A photonics device comprising:
- a substrate including a star coupler region and a transition region;
- a lower core layer formed on the substrate;
- and
- upper core patterns formed on the substrate to define a waveguide,
- wherein the upper core patterns are disposed on the lower core layer at the transition region, so that the transition region has a multi-layered core structure.

- at least one input waveguide;
- a plurality of arrayed waveguides;
- and
- a plurality of output waveguides,
- wherein the input, arrayed, and output waveguides are formed of the upper core patterns and are spaced apart from each other, so that an input star coupler region and an output star coupler region are defined by gaps between the input, arrayed, and output waveguides.
