Abstract
A component in a telecommunications system is provided. The component includes one or more processors configured to promote semi-persistent scheduling of a resource and to send a release message. The release message informing the user equipment to cease attempting to process data from the downlink portion. Also provided is user equipment comprising one or more processors configured to promote providing an indication that a request for an uplink resource is related to a voice over Internet Protocol call.
Claims19
A component in a telecommunications system, comprising:
- one or more processors configured to promote semi-persistent scheduling of a resource;
- the one or more processors further configured to promote sending a release message to a user equipment, the release message informing the user equipment to cease attempting to process data on the resource that was semi-persistently scheduled.
A user equipment, comprising:
- one or more processors configured to receive data on a semi-persistently scheduled resource;
- and
- the one or more processors further configured to discontinue attempting to process data on the semi-persistently scheduled resource upon receiving a message indicating that the semi-persistently scheduled resource has been released.
A method for managing a semi-persistently scheduled resource comprising:
- sending a release message to a user equipment;
- and
- the user equipment, upon receiving the release message, ceasing to attempt to process data on the semi-persistently scheduled resource.
A component in a telecommunications system, comprising:
- one or more processors configured to receive a notification of a silent period in an uplink portion of a voice over Internet Protocol call and, when a traffic level in the telecommunications system is below a threshold, to retain an existing resource with a user equipment during the silent period.
A method for managing a resource for a voice over Internet Protocol call comprising:
- when a quantity of available resources in a telecommunications system is above a threshold, retaining an existing resource for an uplink data transmission when a silent period occurs in the uplink data transmission.
A component in a telecommunications system comprising:
- one or more processors configured to assign an uplink semi-persistent resource to a user equipment;
- and
- the one or more processors further configured to promote sending of a message to release the uplink semi-persistent resource.
A component in a telecommunications system comprising:
- one or more processors configured to assign a downlink semi-persistent resource to a user equipment;
- and
- the one or more processors further configured to promote sending of a message to release the uplink semi-persistent resource.
A user equipment, comprising:
- one or more processors configured to promote providing a request for a semi-persistently scheduled resource;
- and
- the one or more processors further configured to receive a release message, whereby the user equipment stops transmitting on the semi-persistently scheduled resource.
