Abstract
A mirror with no copper layer includes a glass substrate, a silver coating layer provided at a surface of the glass substrate, and at least one paint layer covering the silver coating layer, where the colour of the paint layer adjacent to the silver coating layer is characterised by L* being less than 40.
Claims20
A mirror with no copper layer which comprises a glass substrate, a silver coating layer provided at a surface of the glass substrate, and at least one paint layer covering the silver coating layer, wherein the colour of the paint layer adjacent to the silver coating layer is characterised by L* being less than 40.
A process for manufacturing a mirror with no copper layer which comprises at least the following steps:
- providing a glass substrate;
- contacting the glass substrate with a solution comprising ions of Sn;
- contacting the glass substrate with a solution comprising ions of Pd;
- contacting the glass substrate with a silvering solution so as to form a silver coating;
- contacting the silver coating formed on the glass substrate with a solution comprising ions of Sn;
- and
- applying at least one paint layer over and adjacent to the silver coating, adapted to provide, once dried, a colour characterised by L* being less than 40.
A mirror with no copper layer which comprises:
- a glass substrate;
- Sn and Pd provided at a surface of the glass substrate;
- a silver coating layer provided at the surface of the glass substrate;
- Sn provided at a surface of the silver coating layer adjacent to a paint layer, and
- a paint layer covering the silver coating layer, wherein the colour of the paint layer adjacent to the silver coating layer is characterised by L* being less than 40.
