Abstract
Implementations described herein may provide fax terminals that can communicate directly with one another over packet-based networks. In one implementation, a fax device may include a network connection configured to connect the device to a packet-based network. The fax device may further include a control unit. The control unit may, in response to a user command, transmit a facsimile document via the network connection and the packet-based network. The fax device may be implemented as a single integrated facsimile appliance.
Claims20
A facsimile device comprising:
- a network connection configured to connect the facsimile device directly to a packet-based network;
- a control unit configured to transmit, in response to a user command, a facsimile document via the network connection and the packet-based network, where the facsimile device is implemented as a single integrated facsimile appliance.
A device comprising:
- a network connection configured to connect the device to a packet-based network via a packet-based interface;
- a control unit configured to simultaneously support multiple facsimile sessions over the packet-based network.
A method comprising:
- receiving, at a facsimile device, an indication from a user that a facsimile document is to be sent;
- establishing a facsimile session with a terminating facsimile machine, the session being established entirely over a packet-based network;
- and
- transmitting the facsimile document over the facsimile session.
A device comprising:
- means for receiving, at a facsimile device, an indication from a user that a facsimile document is to be sent;
- means for establishing a facsimile session with a terminating facsimile machine, the session being established entirely over a packet-based network;
- and
- means for transmitting the facsimile document over the facsimile session.
