Abstract
A method is disclosed. The method includes receiving print data at an electrophotographic printer; examining the print data to determine if an image within the print data may be used to perform one or more process control measurements and performing the process control measurement if it is determined that the image may be used.

A method comprising:
- receiving print data at an electrophotographic printer;
- examining the print data to determine if an image within the print data may be used to perform one or more process control measurements;
- and
- performing the process control measurement if it is determined that the image may be used.

An electrophotographic printing system comprising:
- a control unit to examine received print data to determine if an image within the print data may be used to perform one or more process control measurements at the printing system;
- and
- a print head to write the print data at the electrophotographic printing system to a medium.
A network comprising:
- one or more data processing systems;
- a print server to receive print jobs from each of the one or more data processing systems;
- and
- an electrophotographic printer to receive the print jobs from the print server and to examine print data within each print job to determine if an image within the print data may be used to perform one or more process control measurements.
