Abstract
A flat panel display includes a data interface, a scaler control circuit, and a pulse generator configured to provide an external pulse signal to the scaler control circuit. The data interface is configured to receive an image signal including a vertical synchronization pulse signal and a horizontal synchronization pulse signal. The scaler control circuit is configured to determine a vertical resolution of the image signal by counting a number of pulses of the external pulse signal respectively between two adjacent vertical synchronization pulses and between two adjacent horizontal synchronization pulses. A method for detecting a resolution of an image signal received by the flat panel display is also provided.
Claims14
A flat panel display, comprising:
- a data interface configured to receive an image signal comprising a vertical synchronization pulse signal and a horizontal synchronization pulse signal;
- a scaler control circuit;
- and
- a pulse generator configured to provide an external pulse signal to the scaler control circuit;
- wherein the scaler control circuit is configured to determine a vertical resolution of the image signal by counting a number of pulses of the external pulse signal respectively between two adjacent vertical synchronization pulses and between two adjacent horizontal synchronization pulses.
A method for detecting a resolution of an image signal received by a flat panel display, the image signal comprising a vertical synchronization pulse signal and a horizontal synchronization pulse signal, the method comprising:
- providing an external pulse signal;
- counting a number of pulses of the external pulse signal between two adjacent vertical synchronization pulses;
- counting a number of pulses of the external pulse signal between two adjacent adjacent horizontal synchronization pulses;
- and
- determining a vertical resolution of the image signal via two counting results.
A method for detecting a resolution of an image signal received by a flat panel display, the image signal comprising a vertical synchronization pulse signal, a horizontal synchronization pulse signal, and a pixel clock signal, the method comprising:
- providing an external pulse signal;
- obtaining a first counting result by counting a number of pulses of the external pulse signal between two adjacent vertical synchronization pulses;
- obtaining a second counting result by counting a number of pulses of the external pulse signal between two adjacent horizontal synchronization pulses
- determining a vertical resolution of the image signal by providing a division operation to the first and second counting results;
- obtaining a third counting result by counting a number of pulses of the pixel clock signal between two adjacent vertical synchronization pulses;
- and
- determining a horizontal resolution of the image signal by providing a maths operation to the first, second, and third counting results.
