Use of a remote controller Z-direction input mechanism in a media system

An electronic device for changing the size of a displayed object, the electronic device comprising a processor, the electronic device coupled to a wand comprising a motion detection component and a touch-sensitive input mechanism, the processor operative to:

• provide an output signal representing the object;
• detect an input comprising a swipe of the user's finger across the touch-sensitive input mechanism;
• and
• provide an output signal changing the size of the displayed object in response to detecting.

A method for changing a virtual keyboard displayed by an electronic device, comprising:

• displaying a virtual keyboard comprising a first plurality of selectable characters;
• detecting an input comprising sliding a user's finger across an input mechanism of a wand coupled to the electronic device;
• and
• in response to detecting, replacing the first plurality of selectable characters with a second plurality of selectable characters, wherein at least one of the first plurality of selectable characters is different than the second plurality of selectable characters.
