Abstract
A method for connecting a tube and a cast component includes widening an end section of the tube to form a widened section, positioning the cast component adjacent to the widened section, and welding the cast component to enclose at least a portion of the widened section with a weld deposit in at least one step, thereby locking the tube and the cast component together. A connection between a tube and a cast component is also provided.

A method for connecting a tube and a cast component, comprising:
- widening an end section of the tube to form a widened section;
- positioning the cast component adjacent to the widened section;
- welding the cast component to enclose at least a portion of the widened section with a weld deposit in at least one step, thereby locking the tube and the cast component together.
A connection, comprising:
- a tube defining a centerline;
- a widened section formed on an end section of the tube, the widened section projecting radially outward from the centerline;
- a cast component into which the widened section is disposed;
- and
- a weld deposit disposed between the widened section and the cast component,
- wherein the weld deposit establishes a positive lock connection between the widened section and the cast component.
