Abstract
An apparatus for mounting and demounting a materials sheet onto and from a cylindrical surface of a drum (10) has clamps (40) pivotably arranged upon the sheet materials drum. The clamps have a first region (80) and a second region (70) either side of a pivot axis. The second region (70) clamps the materials sheet to the cylindrical surface (20) of the drum. A backbone (120) extends along the length of the drum and is removably attached to the drum. Push rods (90) movably arranged on the backbone are capable of being operated to push against the first region of the clamps to pivot the clamps to move the second region of the clamps. Any existing clasped materials sheet is thereby unclasped from the cylindrical surface.
Claims11
An apparatus comprising:
- a) a drum;
- b) at least one clamp pivotably arranged on the sheet materials drum, the at least one clamp having a first region and a second region, the second region capable of clamping a materials sheet to the cylindrical surface of the sheet materials drum, a pivot axis of the at least one clamp being between the first region and the second region of the clamp;
- c) a backbone extending along the length of the drum, the backbone capable of being removably attached to the drum;
- and
- d) at least one push rod movably arranged on the backbone, the at least one push rod arranged to be capable of pushing against the first region of the at least one clamp.
A method for clasping a materials sheet to a cylindrical surface of a drum, the drum having at least one clamp pivotably arranged on the drum, the clamp having a first region and a second region, a pivot axis of the clamp being between the first region and the second region of the clamp, the method comprising:
- a) removably attaching to the drum a backbone comprising at least one push rod movably arranged on the backbone;
- b) pushing on the first region of the at least one clamp with the push rod to open the clamp;
- c) positioning the materials sheet under a second region of the clamp;
- and
- d) withdrawing the push rod to let the second region of the clamp clasp the materials sheet to the cylindrical surface.
The method of claim 8, further comprising detaching the backbone from the sheet materials drum.
A method for removing a materials sheet from a cylindrical surface of a drum, the drum having at least one clamp pivotably arranged on the sheet materials drum, the clamp having a first region and a second region, a pivot axis of the clamp being between the first region and the second region of the clamp, the method comprising:
- a) removably attaching to the drum a backbone comprising at least one push rod movably arranged on the backbone;
- b) pushing on the first region of the at least one clamp with the push rod to open the clamp;
- and
- c) removing the materials sheet from the cylindrical surface.
