Armored Cable Cutter

A cutter for cutting the armor casing of an armored cable, comprising:

• a cutter body having a first wall and a bottom entry wall defining an elongated channel for receiving an armored cable, the first wall having a slot therein which defines in the first wall a slot segment, the slot segment defining a base line, the bottom entry wall being located longitudinally on one side of the slot segment;
• a cutting blade mounted on the cutter body opposite the slot on one transverse side of the first wall for translation into and out of the channel, the direction of translation into the channel defining a blade insertion direction;
• and
• a stopper mounted on the cutter body opposite the slot on the other transverse side of the first wall for translation toward and away from the first wall such that the stopper is engageable with an armored cable placed in the channel to releasably press the armored cable against the slot segment of the first wall, the distance in the blade insertion direction of the bottom entry wall from the base line increasing as the longitudinal distance from the slot segment increases.
