Abstract
A miniature optical disc drive includes a DVD-compatible optical controller and a cartridge load module designed to hold a cartridge containing a 32 mm optical data storage disc.

A disc drive comprising:
- an optical pickup head utilizing a blue laser beam for reading data recorded on an optical data storage disc;
- an analog front end processor;
- a DVD-compatible optical controller for processing a signal output from the analog front end processor;
- and
- a cartridge load module;
- wherein the cartridge load module is structured to hold an optical data storage disc measuring approximately 32 mm in diameter.
