Abstract
The present invention provides a cell strain which is derived from an fcwf-4 cell that is a cell derived from a feline whole fetus and which is capable of being cultured without animal-derived proteins, a method for producing the cell strain, and a method for producing a virus by using the cell. An inexpensive and safe feline vaccine can be produced according to the present invention.
Claims12
A cell strain which is derived from an fcwf-4 cell that is a cell derived from a feline whole fetus and which is capable of being cultured without animal-derived proteins.
A method for producing a cell strain capable of being cultured without animal-derived proteins, comprising:
- adapting an fcwf-4 cell to a serum- and cell growth factor-containing culture medium, and
- culturing the cell in an animal-derived protein-free medium containing a plurality of soybean-derived peptones in a 1:1 mixture of a Dulbecco's modified Eagle medium and Nutrient Mixture (Ham's F-12), to produce a cell strain capable of being cultured without animal-derived proteins.
An animal-derived protein-free medium comprising a plurality of soybean-derived peptones in a 1:1 mixture of a Dulbecco's modified Eagle medium and Nutrient Mixture (Ham's F-12).
