Abstract
Process for producing 7-methoxy-3-desacetylcefalotin by a hydrolysis process which takes place in water and is catalyzed by an enzyme. Cefoxitin can be obtained from this compound by known methods.

A process for preparing the compound of formula I
- in which a compound of formula 11
- is subjected to hydrolysis of the acetyl group, wherein said hydrolysis is conducted in water in the presence of a catalyst consisting of at least one enzyme possessing hydrolasic acetyl activity, at a temperature between −10° C. and +45° C., at pH between 5 and 9.
