Abstract
A demolition charge system has a multi-primed initiation system with a rigid container defining an internal chamber. An initiation tube is supported within the internal chamber and is configured to receive a demolition initiator.
Claims23
A demolition charge system comprising:
- a container having opposing walls, a base coupled to said walls, and a lid, said lid fitting onto said walls to cover an internal chamber defined between said walls and said base;
- and
- an elongated hollow tube extending within said internal chamber, said tube having a tube wall extending between opposing open ends, the opposing open ends being supported by said opposing walls, and at least a portion of said tube wall having a wall thickness of less than 0.050 inches;
- wherein said elongated hollow tube is adapted to receive a detonating cord extending longitudinally within said tube, and said internal chamber of said container is adapted to receive a main charge such that said tube extends in proximity to said main charge for causing detonation of said main charge upon activation of said detonating cord, wherein said tube wall dimensions and material are designed based upon detonation properties of said detonating cord and said main charge, wherein said tube wall will permit said detonating cord and said main charge to function while being relatively insensitive to accidental detonation, reduce risk of misfire or partial detonation due to failure to transmit sufficient energy through said tube wall to obtain a uniform and predictable detonation of said main charge, and be stable enough to endure rough handling or impacts transmitted to said main charge and to said detonating cord placed within said tube without accidental detonation or damage to at least said tube.

A demolition charge system comprising:
- a container having side walls, a base coupled to said side walls, and a lid, said lid fitting onto said side walls to cover an internal chamber defined between said side walls and said base;
- a first elongated hollow tube extending within said internal chamber;
- a second elongated hollow tube extending within said internal chamber and substantially perpendicular to the first elongated hollow tube;
- a demolition initiator received within at least one of said elongated hollow tubes;
- and
- a main charge positioned within said internal chamber of said container wherein said at least one elongated hollow tube extends in proximity to said main charge for causing detonation of said main charge upon activation of said demolition initiator.

A demolition charge system having a multi-primed initiation system comprising:
- a container having interconnected end walls, side walls, base wall and a lid, said lid continuously fitting onto said end and side walls to cover and contain an internal chamber;
- and
- at least two elongated hollow thin-walled tubes extending through said internal chamber from corners of said container and integrating in the middle of said container similar to a cross when viewed from a face of said container and centralized within a volume of said container;
- wherein at least one demolition initiator is capable of longitudinally extending in each of said tubes and wherein a main charge is capable of positioning in said internal chamber such that said tubes extending through the main charge in said chamber and the main charge is positionable in abutting contact along the length of said tubes to assure demolition of the main charge upon use of the at least one demolition initiator.
