A pyrimidinedione derivative of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof exhibits excellent inhibitory activity against hepatitis C virus.

A use of a pyrimidinedione derivative of formula (I) for preventing or treating hepatitis C:
- wherein,
- R1 is C3˜C6 cycloalkyl or C3˜C6 cycloalkenyl optionally substituted with at least one hydroxyC1˜C4 alkyl;
- X is oxygen, sulfur or carbonyl;
- n is 1 or 2;
- and
- R2, R3 and R4 are each independently hydrogen or C1˜C4 alkyl.

A method for preventing or treating hepatitis C in a mammal, which comprises administering the pyrimidinedione derivative of formula (I) to the mammal:
- wherein,
- R1 is C3˜C6 cycloalkyl or C3˜C6 cycloalkenyl optionally substituted with at least one hydroxyC1˜C4 alkyl;
- X is oxygen, sulfur or carbonyl;
- n is 1 or 2;
- and
- R2, R3 and R4 are each independently hydrogen or C1˜C4 alkyl.
