A colourless or transparent composition comprising a charge-delocalisation compound and a photoacid, wherein the photoacid generates an acid on irradiation or heating, thereby forming a coloured charge-transfer complex with said compound.
A method of marking an object, which comprises applying to a substrate, a colourless or transparent composition comprising a charge-delocalisation compound and a photoacid, wherein the photoacid generates an acid on irradiation or heating, thereby forming a coloured charge-transfer complex with said compound, and generating the acid in situ.
A marked substrate obtainable by coating the substrate with one or more colourless or transparent compositions comprising a charge-delocalisation compound and a photoacid, wherein the photoacid generates an acid on irradiation or heating, thereby forming a coloured charge-transfer complex with said compound and wherein the marking comprising at least two colours or shades of colour.
