Abstract
The invention is a damper that closes off supply duct air when the unit is off to prevent air from exiting through the outlet, and opens when the unit is on to allow room air and/or supply duct air to exit through an outlet. The damper may be either motorized or mechanically biased.
Claims4
A damper for an air cleaner that is in fluid communication with a room air inlet, a supply duct, and an outlet, wherein said damper is movable between a first position that prevents fluid communication between said supply duct and said outlet, and a second position that permits fluid communication between said supply duct, said room air inlet and said outlet.
A positive pressure air purification unit comprising:
- a housing having a room air inlet and a supply duct inlet;
- a fan disposed in said housing;
- an air filter disposed in said housing;
- a damper, adapted for movement between a first position and a second position, and disposed in fluid communication with said room air inlet and said supply duct inlet;
- wherein said damper in said first position allows air from said supply duct inlet to pass through said air filter and does not allow air from said room air inlet to pass through said air filter;
- and
- wherein said damper in said second position allows air from said supply duct inlet to pass through said air filter and allows air from said room air inlet to pass through said air filter.
