Abstract
There is provided systems and methods for a reorientable electrical outlet. In one embodiment, a system includes a housing configured to be coupled to an electrical power source, the housing having a first rotation stop, and an electrical plug receptacle, mountable within the housing, the insert having a second rotation stop, the first and second rotation stops configured to cooperate with each other to limit rotation of the insert within the aperture at a number of degrees, wherein the plug receptacle is configured to receive an electrical plug.
Claims21
An electrical outlet comprising:
- a housing configured to be coupled to an electrical power source, the housing having a first rotation stop;
- and
- an electrical plug receptacle, mountable within the housing and having a second rotation stop, the first and second rotation stops configured to cooperate with each other to limit rotation of the plug receptacle within the aperture at a number of degrees, wherein the plug receptacle is configured to receive an electrical plug and is only rotatable about an axis that is perpendicular to a face of the plug receptacle.
A method of manufacturing a rotatable, electrical outlet, the method comprising:
- placing a generally circular receptacle within a generally circular aperture in an electrical housing, such that a first stopping mechanism on the receptacle cooperates with a second stopping mechanism in the aperture to limit rotation of the receptacle to a rotational range, and such that the receptacle is only rotatable about an axis that is perpendicular to a face of the receptacle;
- connecting a first wire between the receptacle and the aperture;
- and
- connecting a second wire between the receptacle and the aperture.

An electrical outlet comprising:
- a housing having a first stop;
- a faceplate that is attachable to the housing;
- and
- a plug receptacle that is rotatably mountable within the housing, that is accessible through the faceplate, and that is only rotatable about an axis that is perpendicular to the faceplate, the plug receptacle including a second stop that is configured to cooperate with the first stop to limit rotation of the plug receptacle.
