A method for diagnosing kidney disease using urine from a diabetic animal, the method comprising the step of assaying a urine sample from a diabetic human or animal with a polyclonal antisera or one or a plurality of monoclonal antibodies immunologically specific for a protein or peptide differentially produced in urine from a diabetic having or at risk for developing kidney disease, wherein kidney disease is diagnosed when at least one said protein or peptide is detected.
A method for assessing a risk for developing kidney disease using urine from a diabetic animal, the method comprising the step of assaying a urine sample from a diabetic human or animal with a polyclonal antisera or one or a plurality of monoclonal antibodies immunologically specific for a protein or peptide differentially produced in urine from a diabetic having or at risk for developing kidney disease, wherein a risk for developing kidney disease is identified when at least one said protein or peptide is detected.
A polyclonal antisera for diagnosing kidney disease in a human or animal, comprising a plurality of antibodies immunologically specific for a protein or peptide differentially produced in urine from a diabetic having or at risk for developing kidney disease.
