Abstract
A flange to be assembled to a duct member includes a plurality of pre-fabricated apertures or areas of weakened wall strength for receiving fasteners to assemble the flange to the end of a duct member. The apertures may be spaced apart such that the fasteners can be inserted at regular intervals along the length of the flange and the length of the end of the duct member.
Claims20
A flange comprising:
- a wall member;
- and
- a plurality of fastener entry areas positioned in the wall member for receiving a fastener to pass therethrough to fasten the wall member to an end portion of a duct member.
A flange comprising:
- a pair of wall members joined by an intermediate member and oriented with a gap therebetween for receiving an end portion of a duct member;
- and
- a plurality of fastener entry areas positioned on each of the pair of wall members for receiving a fastener to pass therethrough to fasten the wall members to the end portion of the duct member.
A method for fastening a flange to an end portion of a duct member, the flange including a wall member, the method comprising the steps of:
- providing a plurality of fastener entry areas positioned in the wall member;
- positioning the wall member adjacent to the end portion;
- passing a fastener through the fastener entry area;
- and
- passing the fastener through the end portion, thereby securing the flange to the end portion.
