Containers and methods for the storage and transportation of pressurized cryogenic fluids

A container for a pressurized fluid comprising:

• a design comprising a cylinder with two rounded ends and having no sharp angles;
• wherein:
• the cylinder is comprised of a composite of carbon fibers with a resin;
• the carbon fibers are diagonally wrapped about the cylinder;
• and
• the container maintains structural integrity at a temperature variation of from plus 30° C. to minus 240° C. between 500 psig and at least 1,000 psig.

A method of maintaining a fluid under pressure and cryogenic conditions comprising the steps of:

• pumping a cryogenic the fluid into or out of a container, wherein the container:
• is comprised of a structure with a cylindrical shape having at least one rounded end and no sharp angles;
• is comprised of a single layer of material that is light weight, as compared to steel;
• maintains structural integrity at a temperature below minus 100° C. and at a pressure greater than 500 psig;
• and
• has at least one opening at the at least one rounded end for adding or removing fluid from the container.

A method of maintaining a fluid under pressure and cryogenic conditions comprising the steps of:

• pumping a cryogenic the fluid into or out of a container, wherein the container:
• has a structure with a cylindrical shape having at least one rounded end and no sharp angles;
• is comprised of a single layer of carbon fibers that are diagonally wrapped about the cylindrical shape and the at least one rounded end;
• maintains structural integrity at a temperature below minus 40° C. and at a pressure greater than 1,000 psig;
• and
• has at least one opening at the at least one rounded end for adding or removing cryogenic fluid from the container.
