Abstract
Circuits that operate with power supplies of less than 1 Volt are presented. More particularly, circuits that operate with supply voltages near or lower than the threshold voltage of the transistors in those circuits are presented. Various circuits and embodiments such as operational transconductance amplifiers, biasing circuits, integrators, continuous-time sigma delta modulators, track-and-hold circuits, and others are presented. The techniques and circuits can be used in a wide range of applications and various transistors from metal-oxide-semiconductor to bipolar junction transistors may implement the techniques presented herein.
Claims17
A track and hold circuit having an input and an output, comprising:
- an operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) having an input and an output, wherein the output is coupled to the output of the track and hold circuit;
- a capacitor that is coupled across the input and the output of the OTA;
- a first switch having an input and an output, wherein the output is coupled to the input of the OTA;
- a second switch having an input and an output, wherein the input is coupled to a supply voltage and the output is coupled to the input of the first switch;
- and
- a resistor having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side is coupled to the supply voltage and the second side is coupled to the input of the first switch.
A track and hold circuit having an input and an output, comprising:
- an OTA means for providing an operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) having an input and an output, wherein the output is coupled to the output of the track and hold circuit;
- a means for providing a capacitance that is coupled across the input and the output of the OTA means;
- a first switching means for switching having an input and an output, wherein the output is coupled to the input of the OTA means;
- a second switching means for switching having an input and an output, wherein the input is coupled to a supply voltage and the output is coupled to the input of the first switching means;
- and
- a means for providing a resistance having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side is coupled to the supply voltage and the second side is coupled to the input of the first switching means.
