Latching Assembly for a Pressurized Tank Cover

An assembly for securing a cover over an opening formed in a pressurized tank of an agricultural vehicle, comprising:

• a frame having a first end and a second end, wherein the frame is configured to support the cover that is sized to engage the opening formed in the pressurized tank;
• a hinge configured to rotatably couple the first end of the frame to the tank so that the frame is rotatable from a first position away from the opening to a second position over the opening;
• a flange extending from the second end of the frame;
• a latch having a tab, wherein the latch is configured to be rotatably coupled to the tank so that the latch is rotatable from a disengaged position at which the frame is rotatable to an engaged position at which rotation of the frame while in the second position is prevented by engagement between the flange and the tab;
• and
• a latch handle coupled to the latch for rotating the latch between the disengaged and engaged positions.

A method of securing a cover over an opening formed in a pressurized tank, comprising the steps of:

• providing a frame having a first end and a second end including a flange extending from the second end, wherein the frame is configured to support the cover that is sized to engage the opening formed in the pressurized tank;
• providing a hinge configured to rotatably couple the first end of the frame to the tank so that the cover is rotatable from a first position away from the opening to a second position over the opening;
• providing a latch having a tab, wherein the latch is configured to be rotatably coupled to the tank;
• and
• proving a handle coupled to the latch for rotating the latch between a disengaged position at which the frame is rotatable to an engaged position at which rotation of the frame is prevented by engagement between the flange and the tab;
• rotating the cover from the first position away from the opening to the second position over the opening;
• and
• rotating the handle from the disengaged position at which the frame is rotatable to the engaged position at which rotation of the frame is prevented by engagement between the flange and the tab.
