Abstract
A retainer for aircraft hangar doors in which vertical movement of doors is adjustably limited to allow sufficient movement to permit door removal from their supporting tracks or to prevent such undesirable displacement during high wind conditions as experienced during hurricanes and tornadoes or violent earth motions during earthquakes. The retainer in its retaining position does not obstruct normal opening and closing of the doors and is economical to manufacture and install.
Claims3
A method of providing a door retainer for aircraft hangar doors and the like to limit vertical displacement of the door from its lower supporting track wherein said door has an upper channel member extending into a guide track comprising the steps of:
- a) forming a hole in said upper channel member of said upper track,
- b) inserting a threaded bolt through said hole,
- c) securing said bolt to said upper channel with nuts which permit said bolt to be moved axially toward and away from said upper track to and from a position limiting upper movement of said door to prevent said door from being removed from said lower track.
