Abstract
One embodiment is a method that discovers branches and groups that include a reference to an object located in a directory information tree. Paths are determined through the directory information tree to the branches and the groups. Information about the paths is then used to describe the object in the directory information tree.
Claims20
1) A method, comprising:
- discovering branches and groups that include a reference to an object located in a directory information tree;
- determining paths through the directory information tree to the branches and the groups;
- and
- using information about the paths to locate the object in one of the groups in the directory information tree.

8) A tangible computer readable medium having instructions for causing a computer to execute a method, comprising:
- receiving a name of an object to locate in a directory information tree;
- searching, in groups in the directory information tree, objects that represents each of the distinguished names;
- comparing the name of the object to attributes of the objects found in the groups determine if a match exists;
- and
- using the match to locate the object in the directory information tree.

16) A computer system, comprising:
- a memory storing an algorithm;
- a processor that executes the algorithm to:
- discover branches and groups that include a reference to an object located in a directory information tree;
- determine paths through the directory information tree to the branches and the groups;
- and
- use information about the paths to locate the object in one of the groups in the directory information tree.
