Color signal conversion method and apparatus, and method and apparatus for generating mapping parameters

A color signal conversion apparatus, for converting a color signal of an input gamut to a color signal of an output gamut through gamut mapping based on mapping parameters, comprising:

• a target gamut setting unit configured to set a target gamut representing the target of gamut mapping carried out on the input gamut;
• an initializing unit configured to initialize the mapping parameters;
• an evaluation function determining unit configured to determine an evaluation function for evaluating the difference between the target gamut and the results of gamut mapping performed on the input gamut using the mapping parameters initialized by the initializing unit;
• a mapping parameter determining unit configured to determine the mapping parameters based on the evaluation function so that the difference is minimum;
• and
• a gamut mapping unit configured to map the color signal of the input gamut to the output gamut based on the mapping parameters determined by the mapping parameter determining unit.
